Kitchens by Holloways Wins 2024 Livingetc Style Award!
We are thrilled to announce that Kitchens by Holloways have won the prestigious Livingetc Style Award for Best Cabinetry Finish for our ‘Shou Sugi Ban’ kitchen.
The Livingetc Style Awards celebrate brands that resonate with their design-conscious audience, who turn to the magazine for well-informed design advice and inspiration.
Shou Sugi Ban, is a traditional Japanese technique involving the charring of wood surfaces to enhance their strength, resilience and beauty. The charring process results in a deep black look with a stunning alligator skin texture. Our ‘Shou Sugi Ban’ kitchen combines charred wood panels with brushed and waxed brass frames and recessed handles. The contrast between the colour and texture of the wood and brass is really striking.
This innovative cabinet finish was designed to complement the strong dark architectural features of a HUF Haus, and to meet the practical demands of a busy young family.
Developing this award winning finish required a true team effort, not least from the amazing craftsmen at our workshop in Shropshire, who developed and tested countless construction variations and samples in order to ensure that the kitchen would stand the test of time.
